Saumur Val de Loire Agglomération, in search of a sensor, called on Heyliot to equip a dozen household waste collection columns. Why use a  sensor ? Some columns are full, which causes deposits at the foot of the containers. They wanted to avoid these overflows by being alerted as soon as a container is full. On the other hand, some points are located on the outskirts of the city, and the Heyliot solution could also be used to optimise collections.

Proposed solution

Deployment of 15 sensors on above-ground and underground columns identified as problematic

– Thanks to its universal fixing system, the sensor can be installed on all types of waste containers
– To communicate their measurements, the sensors use the Orange public network dedicated to connected objects (LiveObjects).

Access to the Heyliot platform
– Real-time visualization of container fill levels
– Sorting and filtering of waste flows, locations and fill levels
– Setting up of alerts to the RRP unit manager when thresholds are exceeded

Testimonial

After a few weeks of using the information feedback, there are several interesting points to list : the probe reading is proving useful on the two most distant columns under test in order to optimise movements and adapt collection frequencies according to how full they are. For the voluntary drop-off points located in the centre of Saumur, the probe is useful for bags that have become stuck in the avaloir. We receive an alert indicating that the column is full and by reading the curve, we can very quickly realise that it is an obstruction. Our maintenance team intervenes to unblock the drain and thus avoid the systematic illegal dumping around it.

The hour-by-hour visualisation of the filling rate is useful information, in terms of operation, to better understand the functioning of the columns.

The Heyliot team knows how to make itself available and accompany us throughout the deployment and use of the product, with regular feedback to best meet our needs.
